I love the look of a manicure I’ve actually spent time on. I always opt to save a buck or two and polish my own nails, and frankly, I enjoy the whole hour-and-a-half experience. It’s a relaxation ritual complete with drying-time (best excuse ever not to do dishes!) and feeling proud of my perfect yet time-consuming tips. However, finding that hour and a half isn’t always a possibility, but there’s no need to go polish-free when you’re craving that fun splash of colour. This polish is my favourite way to shiny perfect nails when time is of the essence.
What is it: Ciaté Paint Pots
Why we love it:
In a nutshell? This polish rocks because you only need one coat and you’re done. You’ll have a mega-glossy, shiny, pop of solid colour on your nails. No more waiting for your basecoat to dry, 2 coats of polish, and a top coat. This polish gets you out the door fast, no fuss, no waiting between coats. And one coat of Ciaté’s Paint Pots is actually glossier than even some top-coats I’ve tried. My friends often ask me where I get my nails done, so I know I’m doing something right. And now the secret’s out.
On those days when I do have time for a full mani, I still pick this polish because I’m in love with the shades. Nearly every single genius colour rocks, and the brand has quite a few that I’ve never seen before in a polish. The finishes range from creme (my favourite), to shimmer (I recommend the Glametal), to glitters, duo-chrome, sheers, holographic, matte, pearl, and porcelain. In otherwords, they’re a go-to brand when you’re looking for something specific. My all-time favourite, which I return to again and again, is Pom Pom - a bright orange-y red that’ll stand in for your winter-rich reds throughout the sunnier months. The cool green, Ditch the Heels, is a great pick if you want to try out the Pantone colour of the year, and if you’re going beach-side? Regatta is a cool shimmery blue that I’m just smitten with for a day at the beach. Since one coat is so quick and easy, changing up your polish is pretty painless, so you can mix it up every day of the week if you’ve got a spare 10 minutes. And hey, you wouldn’t want to miss a polish opportunity just because you’re short on time.
The other best part about Ciaté’s polish is the brush. If polish application is not your forte, you’ll have the easiest time with this brand, because their brush is wider and flatter than most helping you graze the contours of your nail without colouring in your cuticles at the same time. Unlike other ‘pro-wide’ brushes, this one is sturdy enough that it won’t fan out too far, which kind of defeats the purpose. I think the masterminds at Ciaté had it all figured out when they created this product. I’m definitely a fan for life!
