I’m currently working on a very special bathroom – it’s so special that the rest of the house is based around the design. Since it is still a work in progress, I have no pictures of the final product. But if you have taken or plan to take the black and white route for your bath, let’s take it together.
The real star of my inspiration is this black and white clawfoot tub:

The pairing of black and white is so classic, graphic, edgy, and so crisp and clean. It’s no wonder it works fantastic in a bathroom. After all, where else is that clean stark feeling more essential? It’s also a fairly easy and affordable combination thanks to the fact that most bathroom fixtures are the cheapest and look best in white. And the black can easily be incorporated with paint.
As you can see below in my inspiration board, I decided to choose carrara marble floor tiles placed in a herringbone pattern. To continue the idea of contrast, I went with the juxtaposition of modern and traditional lines; the heavy ornate tub with a super streamline modern tub filler faucet. The same repeats in regards to lighting – I am having a modern “chain” chandelier over the tub, mixed up with vintage looking wall sconce.
If you love this idea as much as I do, keep reading Jillian’s Pad, as I will eventually feature the final product!
