It’s official: cats are so hot right meow.
On Sunday, designer Tracy Reese sent a different kind of model down the runway – a cat named Lily. Lily was carried down the catwalk by a human model, but there was no out-doing the four-legged beauty. The Siamese Blue Point rescue had everyone’s eyes on her.
So why did Tracy Reese decide to send a kitty down the runway? Turns out the designer is collaborating with cat food company Purina ONE for their “True Nature of Cats” campaign.
The campaign aims to challenge “misconceptions about cats, beginning with the idea they can’t be leash trained.”
Unfortunately Lily had a bit of stage fright before hitting the catwalk and had to be carried, though her fashionably chic leash was still visible to those attending the show.
This comes on the heels of Glamour magazine’s Glamour Cat Fashion Concept Store – a pop-up store dedicated to the “cat trend.”
“Cats are so fashion. Think about it. They’re sleek, they’re kind of chic. They’re not giving it away. You gotta work for it a little bit, you know what I mean?” said Bill Wackermann, the publishing director of Glamour magazine.
And we can’t forget about the world’s most famous kitty, Choupette. The lucky feline was adopted by Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, and has two maids and a driver.
It’s safe to say that after all this, cats on leashes will be the new it accessory of 2013. Now to leash-train my five-month-old kitten…
