Stephen Colbert is bringing a whole new meaning to "the show must go on." The Late Show host isn't letting a little coronavirus lock down stop him from bringing the good people of the internet all that comedic political content they need. Some heroes wear capes; MANY heroes wear scrubs; and one hero wears a suit in a bubble bath.Colbert is taking the CDC's social distancing advice seriously and traded the studio for his bathtub for Monday's edition of his late night show. Coming to us from what looks like a grainy webcam in your average bathroom, Stephen offered up his regular brand of political humour on a special edition of The Lather Show with Scrubbin' Colbath featuring guest "Mr. Bubbles" and musical duo, "Head & Shoulders."
"The government is telling us all to avoid human contact indefinitely and on behalf of the socially anxious everywhere, let me just say, 'Way ahead of you,'" he said. "I have been avoiding human contact since before it was cool." Touché.Stephen also gave us a little insight into what's going on at the Colbert house during the quarantine. He cleaned his stove, bought "literally hundreds of beans" (one of which, mathematically, must be magical) and made a delightfully flaky pastry with layers that would impress even Paul Hollywood. Honestly, if we weren't also self-quarantining, we would be knocking on Stephen Colbert's door for a taste of that delicious-looking dessert.[video_embed id='1922670']RELATED: How celebs are dealing with COVID-19[/video_embed]Stephen did his usual comedic political analysis of Donald Trump, then added some levity to the segment by telling people it's okay to be scared in this uncertain time, but if you're watching him from home, you're already doing what you can. He then sang a dystopian version of YMCA about how fun it is to stay in you H-O-M-E (those bathroom acoustics tho).Is it unnerving to watch a man address the nation from his bathtub about a global crisis that may not be resolved until mid-summer or later? Yes, of course. But in times like these, it can only help to have comedians who deliver the latest pandemic news from fun-but-isolated locations while adding in jokes they clearly wrote without their writing team and then pausing for laughter.Stay safe, everybody![video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Just a doggy walking another doggy on a leash[/video_embed]
