How far would you go to celebrate your astrological sign? Maybe a cell phone case with a whimsical Taurus constellation, a bumper sticker shaped like the Virgo symbol, or even a tasteful tattoo on your ankle or wrist? For the most part, those are all totally normal ways to show off your sign.

But one Michigan-based cosmetic tattoo artist is taking a more bold approach to star signs. Jessica Knapik is the artist behind “AstroFrecks,” a series of tiny face tattoos that place faux freckles on the cheeks and forehead in the shape of one’s astrological constellation.

“As many people are right now, I’m super into crystals and what your best intentions can do, and sending your goals and wishes out into the universe. So [the idea for astro frecks] just sparked from that,” Knapik told Bustle.

Knapik’s cosmic cosmetic creations use semi-permanent ink, which means they fade over time. So, if, for some reason, you regret getting a face tattoo, it’s not forever. But that also means the astro freckles need to be touched-up in order to keep up the look.

“The older ones will be more faint and the newer ones will be darker, exactly like real freckles. And if you’re sick of it, you just stop getting touch-ups and go back to how your face was before,” she says.

For anyone interested in adding a jumble of dots on their visage, Knapik notes that it’s important to find a trained cosmetic tattoo artist to do the work; your local tat parlour likely uses different ink and techniques. “Cosmetic tattoo artists are trained a little more in aesthetics — beauty, face shapes, brow shapes,” she says.

If you’re sitting here thinking, “I’m not that married to my own astrological sign,” Knapik suggests getting your Mom’s, Dad’s, Grandma’s or dog’s as a way to show your love.

Better yet, if you’ve got them, play connect the dots on your body and take a look at existing freckles. Maybe the Sagittarius constellation has been hiding on your cheek all along.
