If you saw The Force Awakens, you know that director J.J. Abrams featured a heck of a lot of characters in his modern Star Wars masterpiece. There were new stand-outs, old favourites and a whole lot of fringe players. But what you probably didn’t notice was all of the incredible hidden cameos in the film. And boy, were there was a lot of ’em!
Abrams managed to stealthily sprinkle some very cool celebrity appearances into the film, but if you blinked or sneezed (or couldn’t tell who was under the stormtrooper helmet), you definitely didn’t catch them. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Here are 10 awesome cameos you probably missed in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Warning: spoilers ahead!)
12 awesome ‘Star Wars’ cameos you probably missed
Simon PeggWe knew that J.J. Abrams loved Pegg as Scotty in his Star Trek movies and that he was going to have a small part in Star Wars. That role was grumpy alien junk dealer Unkar Plutt. Did you recognize Pegg's voice under all that latex?Getty Images
Ken LeungIf you pay close attention to General Leia Organa's fellow Resistance leaders, you will notice one of them is Ken Leung. Leung starred as Miles on Abrams' Lost. Of course he scored a cameo!Getty Images
Harriet WalterBelieve it or not, that was Downton Abbey's Lady Shackleton fixing Chewbacca's wounds at the resistance base.Getty Images
Thomas Brodie-SangsterYep, Jojen Reed was in Star Wars. Sangster, who's starred in Game of Thrones, Dr. Who and Maze Runner, had a brief cameo as one of General Hux's lackeys who tried to stop Finn and Poe from escaping in a tie fighter. Finn blew him up. Too bad, so sad.Getty Images
Bill Hader and Ben SchwartzBB-8 was the obviously most adorable part of The Force Awakens. And the men responsible for all of its cute nosies were Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz, his official "voice consultants." They recorded all of those sounds into an iPad.Getty Images
Billie LourdCarrie Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, worked for her mom in the film. She was Lieutenant Connix under General Organa. She didn't have any lines but she did rock the iconic Leia hair. Great tribute!Getty Images
Michael GiacchinoThe stormtrooper that delivered Poe to Kylo Ren was actually Michael Giacchino, Abrams' long-time composer. He's scored Lost, Alias and basically all of the director's previous films. We guess he deserved a sweet cameo.Getty Images
Ewan McGregorObi-Wan was indeed in a scene in The Force Awakens. If you listen carefully, you can hear McGregor's voice during Rey's vision after she touches Luke's lightsaber. (You can hear Yoda, too.)Getty Images
Jessica HenwickYep, another Game of Thrones cameo: Nymeria Sand was in Star Wars, too. Actress Jessica Henwick had a brief appearance as Jess Testor, a Resistance pilot under Poe's command. Abrams must love his GoT.Getty Images
Lin-Manuel MirandaThe biggest Broadway star of 2015, Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda, didn't physically star in the movie but he sang the tune we heard in Maz Kanata's bar. The other singer was Abrams himself.Getty Images
Nigel GodrichStar Wars featured a rock wizard as a stormtrooper. Legendary Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich suited up in the iconic white armour in a random scene. How cool is that?Getty Images
Daniel CraigYou know that stormtrooper that Rey used the Jedi mind trick on to escape from the First Order? Yeah, that was Daniel Craig suited up in the classic white armour. That's right, Rey took down 007!Getty Images
