While new couples likely want to impress their significant others on Valentine’s Day, live-in partners have probably traded in roses and lingerie for streaming television and commitment. And while this is a pretty standard relationship evolution, you still want to show the person you care — without having to needlessly part with your hard earned cash on a day that Hallmark popularized.

To compromise, why not get something that both you and your live-in other half will enjoy? Under the guise of thoughtfulness, treat yourself to the mattress of your dreams, a record player to unwind with or a fuzzy bathrobe that feels like a hug. Go ahead, buy them something that will also benefit you. No one said all gifts have to be selfless.
