A world where no stigma is associated with mental health is a world I would love to live in. So when Wear Your Label launched its “The Future is Stigma Free” shirt (an homage to the original “The Future is Female” design for Labyris Books), you can bet I was on board. Even better than the shirt’s message? 100 per cent from the sales of the tees will go entirely to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital.
Mental health is still surrounded by stigma, with many individuals not recognizing mental disorders as a real illnesses. Prejudices and stereotypes surrounding mental illness can be hurtful too, causing those who need help to remain silent. So a stigma free future, one that the shirt so beautifully promises, is more than welcome. Wear it proudly knowing that your money is making a difference.
Not only that, but the Canadian HBC Foundation will donate $5 to CAMH (up to $100,000 CAD) for each social media post on Instagram or Twitter that uses #TheFutureIsStigmaFree. So get hashtagging.
