When you’re pregnant for the first time, one of the things you almost can’t wait for is to get a cute “bump” and show it off to the world. Then the reality of pregnancy settles in and you realize that along with your bump comes a whole new world of struggles — from swollen feet and sleepless nights to back pain and maternity clothes– that somehow don’t look the same on you as they do on the models. Because why would they?

So all pregnant women should totally relate to at least some aspects of this BuzzFeed video, which is pretty much genius in the way it captures what baby bump life is actually like. Spoiler alert: it isn’t as chill and glowy as it may seem in the movies.

It’s pretty much all there. The real struggle to get around tight spaces that you used to be able to dance through. Needing a massive pillow fort just to feel comfortable for 15 minutes. The constant need to snack on foods that you would otherwise never eat (that doesn’t always include pickles and ice cream, although ice cream and milkshakes are a very real need for many women).

Oh, and then there’s the attempt at doing everyday things. Suddenly your car’s steering wheel seems an awful lot closer to you, and your feet seem even further away. Don’t even get us started on having to bend down for anything or fitting into pants that are suddenly way too tight and shirts that have magically shrunk.

As for Google? It suddenly becomes your best friend and worst nightmare all in one. Pooping on the table is only one of many, many valid concerns that would be way too impolite to list here.

Check it all out for yourself, then go buy your pregnant friends something pretty. They’ll appreciate it — so long as you don’t rub their belly for good luck while giving it to them. After all, they’re not a genie. Just pregnant.
