It’s that time of year again–candy time! Time to take advantage of last-minute sales at your local drugmart or superstore, to decide whether the big bunny is going to be white chocolate or milk, and to stock up on as many mini-eggs as you can fit into your recyclable cotton shopping bag. In other words, it’s Easter!

It’s also the time of year that you start tsk-tsking to yourself about what the next dentist appointment is going to look like and you look to the cupboard to make sure you have enough children’s Advil to stave off the inevitable sugar headache.

We all know that when it comes to any kind of holiday, kids are always bombarded with chocolate, sweets and other treats, which usually leads to massive meltdowns and sugar comas, but there’s something *extra* about this one. This is the chocolate motherlode.

But Easter doesn’t have to be all about the sweets. There are alternatives to the mega bunny and the giant egg filled with a hundred smaller eggs that your kids are going to love. Really.

If you want to try switching things up a little this year, check out some of these ideas for a fun and candy-free (who are we kidding, we’ll settle for slightly candy-reduced) Easter that’ll keep everyone happy. Except maybe your dentist.
