It’s common knowledge that Scarlett Johansson has had every haircut known to man—blonde, brunette, red, long waves, blunt pixie, bangs, no bangs, you name it. With such versatility comes the inevitable comparison to other celebs who have rocked that same ‘do. Hey, when you show up with a pixie cut, you gotta expect some nods to KStew.
But it’s not just Kristen Stewart, it seems ScarJo—who famously said she can play any role, even a tree—has spent time masquerading as many a celeb. The KStew is uncanny, but she’s also spent time looking nearly indistinguishable from celebs like Gwen Stefani, Nicole Kidman, Kim Kardashian and even Avengers co-star Chris Hemsworth. Yes, really.
In honour of ScarJo’s 35th birthday, we’re looking back at all the times she was a dead ringer for somebody else in Hollywood. Honestly, we scared ourselves a little bit looking at the similarities. See for yourself below.
19 times Scarlett Johansson looked exactly like her famous friends
Shirley TempleWe’re not sure what was going down at the 2004 Cynthia Rowley Spring/Summer fashion show, but it involved ScarJo in this pale pink getup looking like Princess Peach meets Sailor Moon. Or the adorable child-star-turned-diplomat, Shirley Temple (yes, Shirley Temple was a U.S. ambassador). Getty Images
Marilyn MonroeHow is it that Scarlett Johansson has never starred in a Marilyn Monroe biopic? The hair, the lips, the eyes—it’s all so perfect. No wonder the Coen Brothers tapped Scarlett for the Marilyn-type role of DeeAnna Moran in Hail, Caesar!.Getty Images
Marilyn Monroe (again)No shade to Michelle Williams, but seriously, why was Scarlett not the titular character in My Week With Marilyn? This is just bizarre. Getty Images
Marilyn Monroe (last time, we promise)Last Marilyn one, but come on! Was she trying to recreate this 1956 Marilyn photo at the 2005 Golden Globes? Because it sure seems that way. Getty Images
Nicole KidmanLook at these two itty-bitty baby celebs! Nicole Kidman rocked her glorious natural curls for the first two decades of her career and apparently ScarJo took a page out of her style book for the 2005 Oscars. The soft ringlets are straight up adorable. Getty Images
Rachel McAdamsOkay, now we’re uncomfortable. Is it just us, or are their chins the only difference here?Getty Images
Gwen StefaniWhoa, the crimping is REAL! When archeologists are studying this period in human history, they will display this photo as the epitome of 2002. Both ladies have blessedly switched up their images since the early 2000s but this was a lewk and they were both committed to it. Getty Images
Britney SpearsJust hear us out. We never thought we would say Scarlett Johansson looked like Britney Spears, but with this stick-straight hair and tight mini-dress at Spike TV’s “Guys Choice Awards” (which is a thing that existed), she’s truly channeling the Princess of Pop. Getty Images
Emma StoneSomehow, ScarJo looks like Emma Stone here and they both look like Anna Faris. Scarlett had blunt bangs for approximately 59 seconds in 2005 (as we all did) but the photos are deeply reminiscent of Amazing Spider-Man-era Emma Stone. Getty Images
Laura PreponDonna, is that you? With those curly red Iron Man 2-era Natasha Romanoff locks, Scarlett was looking distinctly like Laura Prepon in the early days of That 70s Show (you know, before she went inexplicably blonde). Getty Images
Elizabeth OlsenLooks like Mary-Kate and Ashley aren’t the only Olsen twins on the scene—their lil sis Elizabeth has a doppelganger of her own in her Avengers co-star. It’s kind of adorable, honestly.Getty Images
Chris HemsworthNot as adorable as this though. What’s going on here, guys? How did you perfectly plan for your parts to look identical like that? We demand answers!Getty Images
Elsa PatakyTo make this whole thing weirder, Scarlett has also borne a striking resemblance to Chris’s wife Elsa Pataky. What. The. Heck?Getty Images
Portia de RossiThere are a lot of celebs who went for the blonde pixie around the same time in the early 2010s so here’s where the pixie comparisons come fast and furious (shout-out to Elsa Pataky who actually had a pixie in F&F). Portia and Scarlett both spent periods rocking the long quiff with short sides. Very chic. Getty Images
Kristen StewartOf course we had to throw in an edgy KStew side-by-side. We’re nothing if not thorough.Getty Images
Charlize TheronDid anyone else have to do a double-take on the first photo? We could have sworn it was Charlize. It’s like ScarJo took a photo of Theron to her stylist and said “I want this.” Well, you got it, Scar. Getty Images
Jennifer LawrenceShifting away from the pixie, Scarlett’s been going for more of a JLaw look as of late. Honestly, doesn’t it feel like these two would make good friends? Do you think they could fight crime together? We’ll work on the screenplay. Getty Images
Kim KardashianIs it a bit of a stretch? Admittedly, yes. But we can’t help but think of Kim K’s 2016 Met Gala look when we see slicked-back hair. You see it, right? Getty Images
Ronan FarrowOkay, come on, you see this one a little bit. With her hair that colour, Scarlett spent a few months looking like investigative journalist and son of Mia Farrow, Ronan Farrow. They could totally be siblings.Getty Images
