Summer has only just begun and it seems like all of our favourite K-pop artists are ready with earworms to take us through the next few months. ICYMI, the continued international success of big names like BTS, who collaborated with Halsey for major bop “Boy With Luv” or BlackPink performing at Coachella, is just the tip of the Hallyu Wave. So whether you’re a new K-pop fan or a longtime listener, we’ve got the give k-idols and groups that should be on your radar right now.

1. CHUNGHA

K-pop’s newest princess, Chungha has only been a solo artist for two years since her former group I.O.I split in 2017. But that hasn’t stopped her from stealing hearts around the world with hits like “Gotta Go”, “Roller Coaster”, “Love U” and her latest single, “Snapping.” Chungha just released her newest mini album, Flourishing, on June 24.

2. MONSTA X

It seems like we just can’t get enough when it comes to MONSTA X. The K-pop band first came onto the scene in 2015 and quickly became a sensation all over the world. The band recently made its American debut thanks to a collaboration with Steve Aoki on “Play It Cool.” MONSTA X signed with Epic Records in 2018, which is home to the likes of Mariah Carey, Drake and Future, so NBD. On June 21, the band released the music video for their new English-language song “Who Do You Love featuring French Montana, and it’s racked up almost 3 million views. If you can’t get enough of these heartthrobs, they might be coming to a city near you during their We Are Here world tour.

3. GOT7

In late May, GOT7 released the music video for their song “Eclipse” from their ninth album SpinningTop: Between Security and Insecurities. The song was an early tease for the summer and will definitely carry us through our vacation season. Earlier this week, the group appearing on the Today Show and had the honour of being the k-pop group to guest on the NBC show. GOT7 are currently in the middle of a world tour and have a stop in Canada on June 30. The Keep Spinning World Tour is expected to finish in October.

4. BTS

How could there be a K-pop list without BTS? You know and luv the smash hit “Boys With Luv,” but there is so much more to look forward to this summer from the beloved boy group. Earlier this month, the group released the single “Dream Glow” featuring Charlie XCX and “A Brand New Day” with Zara Larsson. On June 20, Universal Music Japan released a teaser clip of the new music video for “Lights” and the full video is set to premiere July 3. And it doesn’t stop there!  The band just released a brand new mobile video game where you get to act as their talent manager, and shared new songs for the game’s official soundtrack. We’re not worthy.

5. NCT

If you like catchy melodies and intricate choreography, you need mega-group—there are 21 members!—NCT in your life. NCT 127, a subgroup of the band performed on Late Night Show With James Corden back in May and shortly after released “Superhuman” and “Don’t Need Your Love” by NCT Dream featuring HRVY. We know, this band loves their sub groups. If that’s not enough NCT love for you, you might want to get your hands on their latest variety show, NCT 127 Tell Me Japan. The show premiered earlier this month and is the perfect binge for all the NCTzens this summer.
