In every breakup, there’s always someone who wins and someone who loses.

But in the case of North and South Korea, it couldn’t be clearer who’s who. Ever since the two Koreas broke up, the north just hasn’t been the same. Between the jealousy, arguments and periodic threats of total annihilation, this bridge is beyond burnt. But we can at least understand some of the north’s frustrations. South Korea fell into the popular crowd following the split, landing a seat in the G20. The north, by contrast, was cast aside as a “hermit kingdom.” Since then, South Korea’s only been looking hotter, and that isn’t sitting well with the ruling class across the border.
