In 13 seasons of reality television, a lot is bound to happen. People take nasty falls, have all-out wars with judges and do some death-defying stunts. It’s hard to have a ‘first’ after that much time on the air. Well, this season, So You Think You Can Dance managed it. Not only is it the first time children have competed on the show, it’s the first time one of its contestants has thrown up on a judge.
After her amazing performance (to ‘Countdown’ by Beyoncé, no less), all three judges–Nigel Lythgoe, Jason Derulo and Paula Abdul–held up tickets to ‘The Academy’ for 12-year-old Chi Tahani. In her excitement she fell to the floor, then quickly collected herself and ran to hug the judges.
After a hug to Nigel, Paula gave Chi a squeeze–a little too much of a squeeze. Upon noticing the unusual look on Chi’s face, Paula asked if she was okay, and the young contestant proceeded to vomit on her arm. Oops.
Abdul joked, ‘I’ve never had anybody just vomit on me like that.’ Parents around the world wish they could say the same.

Chi wasn’t fazed for long though, jumping and shrieking in happiness a moment later. She told host Cat Deeley, ‘I hugged Paula and she just squeezed me too tight, all the happiness came out on her jacket.’ So rather than be super embarrassed (as most of us would be), Chi took it in stride, showing her indomitable 12-year-old spirit. Despite what happened, we think she’s adorable and she absolutely SLAYED her routine before the fiasco at the judges table. If Chi can immediately bounce back from puking on a celebrity in front of a full auditorium, the rest of the competition should be a breeze.
