Picking your bridesmaids can be stressful for any bride-to-be. You want people who will support you during your wedding preparation and on your big day. You want people who won’t complain about the dress you pick or the shoes you’d like them to wear. You want women who will be reassuring when you’re worried about rain ruining your pictures. But most of all, you want a bridesmaid who won’t sleep with your groom. This was apparently too much to ask of one bridesmaid, who was caught in bed the day before the wedding with the groom. Thankfully, another bridesmaid, one who got the unspoken memo to not sleep with the groom, live-tweeted the whole mess.

A wedding that was supposed to take place in Austin, Texas, was called off when the bride caught her fiancé in bed with one of her bridesmaids the night before their wedding. As far as bad luck, this definitely trumps seeing the bride in her dress on the big day.

Although the bride wanted to keep social media out of it, she did agree to let another bridesmaid recount the sordid affair. What an ordeal.

The wedding was initially planned as a casual backyard potluck but got even more casual when the bride decided to call off the wedding, but continue with the party, minus the groom and one bridesmaid.

The bride and the two remaining bridesmaids (who did not sleep with the groom) got busy plotting revenge. We usually don’t condone vengeful behaviour, but this dude had it coming.

Amazingly, the bride was able to still have a good time at her reception-turned-party, thanks to the introduction of a paintball gun.

We would have thought that was as much heartbreak as one person could handle in a day, but then the groom and ex-bridesmaid upped the ante on terrible behaviour.

The bride managed to keep her sense of humor and perspective intact and we’re hoping she’s got some great romantic karma coming her way.

In a fun twist of irony, the groom fled the house he shared with the bride, which contained all his possessions, including his passport.

As well as their joint bank account.

Making lemonade out of lemons, the remaining bridesmaid reveals that she and the bride will donate the groom’s belongings to local charities and Goodwill, leaving the important items (his passport and work laptop) for his mother to pick up.

But not all the same Goodwill locations. Well played, ladies. Well played.

After receiving an outpouring of love for the bride thanks to the Twitter thread, the bride requested that people donate to local shelters instead of sending her gifts. There’s gotta be a prince charming in this woman’s future.
