If the sight of Justin and Sophie parading around British Columbia with Will and Kate has you feeling some serious deja vu, you’re not alone. The Trudeaus and the Royals (we’re officially dubbing the group the Roydeaus) have been hanging out for a long while now—their family’s friendship is multigenerational.
Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Justin’s papa, spent time with much of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, and Prince Charles. And now Justin is doing the same, with William Duke of Cambridge and Kate Duchess of Cambridge, and their adorable little brood, of course. Not to mention, back in his day, PET was also called ‘youthful, intellectual, irreverent, and sexy.’ Like father like son, right?
It really is history repeating itself. Even the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Cambridge have assumed the same nickname. Diana was known as The People’s Princess, and Kate appears to be earning the same title, with her kindness and likability. We want to be BFFs with Kate the same way we adored Diana.
Sure, it may be a little less wild and crazy this time around, but isn’t everything? Here are some of our favourite Roydeau moments; friends and family, from past to present.
