Police officers across Canada have been raising money for cancer research as part of the Cops for Cancer campaign for years. To date, their efforts have raised more and $45 million! That alone is cause for celebration, but a group of cops in Peterborough went one step further to break a world record. Thanks for 267 participants, who each had to raise a minimum for $100 to take part, the Canadian city is now the Guinness World Record holder for simultaneous head shaves!

A group of 12 police officers started an event called Pedal for Hope in 2005, and cycled hundreds of kilometers to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. The event has grown each year since, and now 50 schools and more than 25,000 students take part to aide in their fundraising efforts.

They’ve raised more than $4 million, and shaved over 10,000 heads during the last 11 years. Hundred of ponytails were donated to make wigs for pediatric cancer patients, and perhaps cutest of all, they have an annual event that pits kids against cops in an ice cream eating contest. We have a pretty good idea of which group came out on top.
