Naming a child is never easy, but for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, welcoming their first child North in 2013 came with the added pressure of the world’s attention. When it came time to choose North’s famous name, the inspiration came from an unlikely source – Jay Leno.In the latest episode of Kylie Jenner’s Getting Ready series on YouTube, the makeup mogul answers Twitter questions with big sister Kim, who revealed that it was the late night host who helped solidify Kim and Kanye’s decision to name their first child North. “North took me like four or five days to name her,” said Kardashian. “I actually got it from Jay Leno, who made that as a joke, and I was like, no way, I would never name my daughter that. I said that on his show,” said Kardashian, who said she had a change of heart when she saw people’s response to the name. “Everyone was coming up to me like, ‘It’s such a cool name. You should really think about it.'”In 2013, a pregnant Kim Kardashian appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote her appearance in an upcoming Tyler Perry movie and talked baby names. The host joked about the possibility of Kardashian and husband Kanye West naming their daughter North, which Kardashian quickly shut down. “That’s not true, that’s not one of the names on our list,” said Kardashian. “I do like Easton,” said Kardashian. “I like Easton West. "They really become the name you name them," Kardashian said of daughter North, adding that Kanye came up with Saint, Kim picked Chicago, and Kylie helped with the name Psalm. “And Psalm, you named him,” said Kim to Kylie, who replied, “Well, you thought of it. I vouched for it.”
As source close to the couple confirmed to People that Psalm’s name was inspired by the pair’s recommitment to their faith. “Kanye has been going through a spiritual revival lately. Every name has a meaning that is personal between Kanye and Kim and the child,” said the source. “Psalm is a good reflection of where Kanye and Kim are spiritually.”The source added, “I know that both of them read the Bible regularly now. Kanye loves the Books of Poetry of the Bible: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon. He reads them over and over. Psalms is the longest book in the Bible, but Kanye believes that there’s a lot of wisdom in them.”During her video with Jenner, Kardashian was asked how she juggles her work commitments and large family. “The key to being successful is being organized,” said Kardashian. “It’s hard. It’s a lot of work, but you can totally do it.”As for Jenner, she also sees herself having three more children in addition to daughter Stormi, but with a less clear timeline. “I don’t know if I’m going to have four kids tomorrow or four kids in seven years.”
