We’ve seen the “fairy tale book wedding” thing done time and time again but we’ve never seen it like this. While some couples might settle for a literature-themed wedding with book page centerpieces or a sepia colour palette, the way to show your REAL commitment to the written word is to host your whole wedding at a gorgeous library.
Sound too good to be true? Tommy Smythe assures us it’s not. When he met engaged couple Ana and Marko on Where to I Do? (Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Gusto) he knew these two self-described “downtown dorks” needed a super unique, super niche locale for their nuptials—like the Toronto Reference Library, perhaps?
Ana and Marko have a cute decades-long love story that you have to read to believe. Seriously. If you read their story in a romance novel, you would think the author was laying on the coincidences a little thick. These two were born days apart a few kilometers from one another in the former Yugoslavia and then came to Canada with their families within a month of each other. They didn’t actually meet until years later when they swiped right on a dating app. Talk about serendipity!
This couple wants to share their story with their 300 (yes, 300!) guests in a unique location that reflects their backgrounds and personalities. Since the Toronto Reference Library is both a library filled with love stories and an architectural marvel, it seems like the perfect place for them.
Ana and Marko are skeptical at first when Tommy suggests celebrating their wedding in a literal library (we would be too, TBH), but when they see the grandiose interior and hear Tommy’s love story pitch, they’re sold (and Ana has goosebumps).
It seems like Tommy has nailed it with venue number one, but there are still two more to see. Is this the perfect location for the conclusion of the ultimate love story, or is there an even grander venue out there for this couple? Watch the full episode of Where to I Do? below to find out.
