It’s Friday night on Love Island (Monday-Sunday, 9pm on CTV), but really, isn’t it always Friday in the villa? What is time on Love Island? Heck, what is time anywhere in 2020? Days and hours may no longer matter in the world of recoupling ceremonies, clearly labelled drinkware, and so, so, so many games of Truth or Dare, but it is time for the next cup of tea to be spilled and it’s not from the Duchess Lauren. Instead, viewers tuned in for a shocking revel-Tre-tion. Tre had a secret.

TRE AND KIERSTAN SITTING IN A TREE

Here’s a curveball we didn’t see coming: Tre may be coupled up with undisputed heavyweight hottie Lauren, but the Serial Kisser told the cameras that he was hoping Carrington would pick Lauren in the recoupling ceremony so he would have a shot with Kierstan. Wait, what?! Seeing Kierstan and Tre together isn’t a stretch, but getting Kierstan to rope in her undying devotion to the Urban Cowboy (aka Carrington) won’t be easy. Tre hasn’t let Lauren in on his true feelings, but considering her disdain for his snoring, he should. Lauren is very motivated to find a new bed mate.

JUSTICE FOR JUSTINE

It has been (2) weeks since Justine entered the villa and was immediately friendzoned by Jeremiah. She was saved by Tre and thanked him by seating him squarely in the Friends-Only zone. Justine then lost her friendship with both Tre and Rachel, but she's finally got her man. (Yes, there is a quota for how often we use the word "friend" in every recap, why do you ask?) Now happily paired with Caleb, the pair are falling deeper into like and are ready to meet each other’s families. It’s good they're having the parent talk. Everyone else in the villa is discussing what their typical day looks like in the outside world. Yada yada. Let’s get to the important stuff–will your mother ever approve of your partner or is every holiday going to end with slamming doors and airborne mashed potatoes?[video_embed id='2028913']ICYMI: A sexy car wash challenge proves disastrous for these Islanders [/video_embed]

CALVIN’S COOLING OFF

Calvin is cooling off in his feelings for Moira, but TBH, were they ever hot to begin with? After Moira dissed and dismissed PDA-King James, she coupled up with Calvin, who has shown more attention to Moira’s crutches than her. Moira remains a smitten kitten, while Calvin is waiting for fireworks. There was a bit of a spark at the very end there when they shared their "first passionate kiss" courtesy of Truth or Dare (is it too judgy to suggest that might not be the greatest sign?) but we'll have to see if it actually leads to anything. Cue the newest Islander in three, two…

MANDATORY MACKENZIE AND CONNOR UPDATE

Connor admitted to/got called out for holding Lauren’s hand on their date and Mackenzie did not cry or scream. This is partly because Connor agreed to let her dress him like a doll when they leave the villa, but still, we are classifying Mackenzie’s response as "growth." It finally seemed like a newer, more relaxed Mackenzie was ready to enjoy her time in the villa. That was until the final two minutes of the episode when Moira questioned whether Mackenzie and Connor deserved a night in the Hideaway. Cue the return of the Mack in three, two…

IN LIGHTER NEWS: JOHNNY’S SALON

Johnny spent no time breaking out his barber shop tools in episode two to give all the guys fresh cuts ahead of the first recoupling ceremony. It seems his skills aren’t limited to hair—he also gives a mean mani and has the salon talk to back it up. Cely was super impressed by the nail job and we were super UNimpressed by the fact they seemed to be thiiiis close to having the boyfriend-girlfriend talk but stopped short of discussing how official they are. As the most solid couple in the villa, we’re rooting for these two to make it official… even though we respect this is a wildly accelerated timeline and in the real world it would still be super early to do that.
