The story of Alexander Hamilton is as American as they come, but a Toronto high school is trying to rehash a smash musical about Hamilton and they’re absolutely killing it.

Students at the Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts in Scarborough, Ont., have been putting on an unauthorised show of sorts (complete with rapping and funky dance moves) and are hoping to gain permission from the Broadway hit’s creators to put on an official show. Corteon Moore, who plays George Washington in the school’s play says that everyone’s really connecting to the Hamilton story.

“It’s really about people who don’t come from a place of power making a mark on the world…” Moore said to CTV News. “Hamilton is a phenomenal writer, he makes his way to the top by writing. The people at Wexford Collegiate, we’re people who don’t really come from places where you look at us and say, ‘They’re gonna go far. [But] we’re extremely diverse and extremely committed to the art that is music theatre.”

For more about their amazing story, check out the video above.

Here’s hoping they get permission to put on the show officially ’cause we’re totally going to watch it!
