Need your hair braided for vacation? Looking for a Lemonade inspired ‘do for prom night? We know just who to call: 10-year-old Jayonnah and her younger sister, 8-year-old Aiyonnah.
The pair’s expert braiding skills have become one of the internet’s latest viral sensations. In two videos originally posted by their aunt, the girls are seen completing different braiding styles without any assistance.
In the first video, Jayonnah skillfully weaves feed-in, Lemonade-inspired braids onto her client’s scalp. She is careful and precise, even taking care not to yank on the woman’s hair when she reaches a knot near the bottom.
In the second video, Aiyonnah works on a diamond sectioned box-braid. The final product (also shown in post below) is clean without a stray hair in sight.
TSRStaff: Thembi – Instagram @ThembiTV_ This deserves allll the hashtags! #TSRPositiveImages #TSRBeauty #BlackGirlMagic and especially #TSRCutThaCheck because someone needs to!!! _____________________________________ Eight and ten-year old sisters, Jayonnah and Aiyonnah, aka #OnnaSlay are braiders, and continue to perfect their craft with their clients who include young girls like themselves as you see in the videos above. _____________________________________ If they continue this way, by the time they hit their teen years (or even sooner) these sissies could be entrepreneurs and whole business women in their own right. _____________________________________ I’m just saying, not only could this hustle pay for their whole college education when the time comes, but it’s the seed that’ll open many beauty shops and other opportunities to come in the future!! _____________________________________ Come through ladies!! 🎥: @OnnaSlay 💅🏾
So how did the two girls get so good at braiding before their teenage years? Look no further than their mother, Ashley. Working as a professional hairstylist in Southern California, Ashley made it a habit to let the girls watch her while she worked.
“They [saw] me braiding so much they just picked up on it,” Ashley explained in an interview with Allure. According to Allure, of the two, Jayonnah was the first to take an interest in braiding, using her dolls to practice the basics.
Now, thanks to the viral internet videos, the young braiding duo have their own Facebook page with almost 62,000 followers.
“They say they are famous,” Ashley said to Allure. “They love reading all the positive comments. They’ve had a few people recognize them while we are out and instantly get excited.”
With their skills, we predict that these girls will be braiding for red carpet events sooner rather than later.
