For most women getting married, it’s generally accepted that her father will walk her down the aisle. Daddy’s girls especially wouldn’t want it any other way.

Alexandra Pearson of Nebraska, a bride-to-be, was expecting to be wed in California without her father by her side. Andre Pearson suffers from a heart ailment, is confined to a wheelchair, and was physically unable to travel.

That changed after doctors at the Mayo Clinic proposed a surgery they’d never attempted before, implanting a left and right ventricular assist device to help Pearson’s heart pump. As a result, Andre was able to travel to California to witness his daughter get married.

She had no idea he was coming.

Watch the video, above, for the heartwarming moment.
