Imagine having Alec Baldwin as a dad during quarantine. Would he just be walking around the house constantly telling you to "Always Be Closing," like in Glengarry Glen Ross? Would he put on the SNL Trump wig and yell at CNN that it’s fake news (that would be kinda fun actually)? Turns out, on Thursday night when he was interviewed via video-chat by Jimmy Fallon for The Tonight Show: At-Home Edition, he proved he’s actually quite the paterfamilias. Yes, we’re talking about the same Alec Baldwin here. It’s true, he’s adorbs with his pipsqueaks.“I mean, what can be better than this, you know?” he sardonically told Jimmy as his daughter Carmen tried repeatedly to hijack his interview while wife Hilaria laughed in the background. “Cooking every night, we're cleaning the kitchen. We're doing laundry. We're watching the kids. Put them to bed at night. And just being with the kids all day. Every minute of every day. We're not working. I don't have a job. Nothing is going on. But the kids are... just great. It's just... great.”“Oh, my,” Jimmy exclaimed. “He's cracking.”Yeah, who is this and what have you done with Alec Baldwin?
It’s quite sweet to see Alec horsing around the joking with his kids, considering his historic reputation for having a short fuse. He even mocked that temperamental reputation by starting off the interview with a diabolical laugh-off with Jimmy (sorry, Alec wins that competition any day of the week), but quickly abandoned it when daughter Carmen wanted to pull a little prank on Jimmy. Actually, Carmen Baldwin got quite a lot of screentime until she tried to totally derail the interview by asking Jimmy to let his daughter Winnie join them. That didn't fly.Alec and Jimmy also had a parental brainstorm that might prove useful to any parent wondering what they're going to do with the kiddos this weekend. Have you tried playing Chutes and Ladders or Candyland backwards? Have you tried locking your kids in the basement and telling them it's an escape room? Hmm. (On the more adult front, Alec is a BIG fan of the HBO sleeper hit The Outsider starring Jason Bateman and the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm).[video_embed id='1928204']RELATED: John Legend recording sexy album for ‘corona-baby-making’[/video_embed]Of course, Alec had an opportunity to highlight a charity near and dear to his heart. The East Hampton Food Pantry is an organization that provides meals to the East Hampton community, and is something Alec has been involved with for some time since he noticed how the community there struggles. He explained that hearing "The Hamptons" doesn't really spark compassion in the general population, but as someone who lives there year-round, he's been inspired to do what he can to help the working class community that lives there. On a lighter note, Alec joked as that “there's another charity I want to set up which is what happens to your neck when your son jumps on you like this. Specific neck pain! I want to set up a GoFundMe for that,” as his son Raphael wrapped his arms around his father's throat,Jimmy laughed, “It's long days, isn't it, Alec?”“Jimmy, you don't know the half of it, baby.”[video_embed id='1929400']BEFORE YOU GO: Turns out Courteney Cox is not very good at ‘Friends’ trivia[/video_embed]
