If there’s anything we’ve learned in 2018, it’s that young engagements in Hollywood are definitely having a moment. From Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin to Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, these young couples aren’t afraid to make quick commitments to each other. (If there’s anything else we know, it’s that young people love getting relationship advice, especially from their older famous uncles.)

In a recent interview with eTalk at the Toronto International Film Festival, Alec Baldwin had some advice for his niece, Hailey, and her fiancé.

“People who get married young – and they are very young – I want them to just spend time with each other,” he said. “If you want to have a successful marriage, you have to be together. You gotta stay together.”

Although it seems kind of rich that Baldwin would offer up marriage advice, he has been married since 2012 (which is basically a lifetime in Hollywood), and he and his wife, Hilaria, have four young kids together.

“When you’re married… Like right now, I’m quite a bit older than both of them but I got married recently a few years ago. And my wife and I had four kids in four and a half years. We have a lot of little kids. The thing is, all the work I do now is based on my family. There’s movies I got offered where they say ‘Come leave town for five weeks. No we can’t travel your family with you, we don’t have that in the budget’. And I pass, because I don’t want to be away from my family. And I hope that they realize that!”

Hailey and Justin, on the other hand, likely won’t have a problem following Baldwin’s advice. From Stratford, Ontario to New York City, the pair have been spotted hand in hand over repeatedly over the last few weeks.
