Sparkles are totally in right now (are they ever not?) and the stars took that to the extreme on the MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet Saturday. All our faves were decked out head-to-toe in silver, sequins or BOTH (we see you, Tiffany Haddish) and we’re totally loving it. Who said summer fashion had to be florals?
We also saw a whole lotta cast reunions (which we love, love, love) including the returns of the Stranger Things boys, a sweet moment between Sabrina co-stars Kiernan Shipka and Ross Lynch and the continued reign of fictional-brother-sister duo Dan Levy and Annie Murphy.
Check out all the sparkles and shenanigans on the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards red carpet.
The 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards will air 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
All the stars were shining on the MTV Movie & TV Awards red carpet
Jada Pinkett SmithIt never ceases to amaze us how Jada can flawlessly transition from boho chic headscarf at the Red Table Talk table to powerful-executive-meets-superhero or stunning genie princess or sleek Oscars royalty or any of her 50 other red carpet personas. This silver Dsquared2 two-piece is fitted to perfection and the black lapels and accents give just the right amount of neutral to even out all the sparkle. Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Melissa McCarthyMelissa is one who knows. her. silver. sparkles. In this Talbot Runhof jumpsuit the actress is channeling her own 2019 SAG Award look with a little added inspo from the 2019 Palm Springs Film Festival Gala. The shades provide even more glam (not that she even needed it). Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Zachary LeviYou can’t do your best hosting in a drab tux and it looks like Zach totally knows that. The Shazam actor is killing that teal colour in all its many shades and we are here for it. Take that, Neil Patrick Harris! (JK we love you both). Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Jameela JamilJameela Jamil is kind of our everything and she symbolized that by wearing an ensemble that incorporated—well, everything. From the petals all over the skirt and sleeves to the woven industrial top to the chainmail, there’s A LOT going on in this Balmain minidress. We’re glad she offset the busy dress a bit with simple shoes and if you’re curious about the makeup look, check out her Instagram. Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Tiffany HaddishExcuse us, but did Tiffany Haddish invent asymmetrical dresses? Because it looks like she owns them. This custom sparkly champagne Jonathan Simkhai number is exactly the kind of jaw-dropping piece we like to see Tiffany in and she’s wearing the heck out of it. Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Aubrey PlazaChanneling her inner-Wednesday Addams, Aubrey is totally on brand in this cutesy Miu Miu look. Plus get a load of those chunky crystal encrusted heels. Gorge! Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Elisabeth MossWhoa, Elisabeth’s dress really is something. The shape, fit and even concept of the Balmain piece are very cool and she’s certainly got the confidence for it, but we have some practical questions, like: are you worried about sitting in it? Moving in it? Getting things caught on it? Look closely and you can see the dragon is actually made of bits of metal. Risky, but maybe worth it.Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Tessa ThompsonAn oversized suitdress gets us every time. We love it when women make menswear work and Tessa is doing just that. She’s abiding by the unspoken dresscode of the night and knocking it out of the park in this shimmery Thom Browne jacket. Plus those platforms are just delightful. Dan Levy and Annie MurphyThe Canadians have arrived, y’all! The iconic Schitt’s Creek actors walked the carpet together and continued to be the fashion forward stars they are. Dan paired his cherry red double breasted Alexander McQueen suit with Burberry dress shirt and Annie rocked a champagne and yellow sequined three-piece. JEAN-BAPTISTE LACROIX/AFP/Getty Images
LizzoThe thing we want most in the world is for Lizzo to be happy and it certainly looks like she is in this neon green Christopher John Rogers gown. As CJR described the custom look, “The Grinch dipped in Teen Nick Slime, but make it fashion!” Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Lana CondorLana is looking vintage chic in her Victorian painting-inspired Alice McCall look. Not everyone can pull off a puffed sleeve, but Lana clearly can. The only real drawback to this outfit is that those pockets could maaaybe hold one Tic Tac each, but that’s it. Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Noah CentineoLana’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (and Shawn Mendes’ greatest competition for the title of “The Internet’s Boyfriend”in their specific cohort year) co-star Noah Centineo, walked the carpet in just a black t-shirt and jeans (come on, man!) but took it upon himself to do the picture-taking. Weird bit, but okay. Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten MatarazzoReunited again! The Stranger Things gentlemen are red carpet experts by now and were looking adorably coordinated (while maintaining their individual styles) on the red carpet. Looking good, boys!JEAN-BAPTISTE LACROIX/AFP/Getty Images
Kiernan Shipka and Ross LynchHarbrina shippers rejoice! Sabrina co-stars Kiernan and Ross met up on the red carpet and got real cute, giggling and whispering to each other while the cameras snapped. Kiernan was looking every inch the mature teen starlet she is in her Fendi column midi dress and matching shoes.Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt and GunnerThe Pratt-Montags love to make red carpets matching family affairs and Saturday was no exception. The whole fam was decked out in navy blue Gucci with Heidi rocking a belted army-inspired jumpsuit and her boys donning matching short suits and high socks. Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Lindsey Vonn and P.K. SubbanSports power couple, Canadian hockey player P.K. Subban and American Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn were special guests of Dwayne Johnson as he won the MTV Generation Award. He couldn’t be there but it appears these two held it down just fine.Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Brett Dier and Haley Lu RichardsonRobert Pattinson may be the new Batman, but could Brett Dier be the next Batman villain? The Jane the Virgin veteran attended the awards in a vibrantly patterned Opposuit with fiancée and Five Feet Apart star Haley Lu Richardson (who was also nominated for Breakthrough Artist). JEAN-BAPTISTE LACROIX/AFP/Getty Images
Cassie Randolph and Colton UnderwoodNow that they’re out in the open, we guess we’ll be seeing a lot of these two. The (former) Bachelor and (current) Bachelor winner were super sweet on the carpet, holding onto one another and giving the cameras a smooch for good measure. Jon Kopaloff/Getty Images
Nick CannonNick Cannon’s style has certainly evolved in recent years, but the internet was pretty befuddled by this (possibly) Mortal Kombat-inspired Louis Vuitton ensemble. He didn’t give an explanation for the attire, so it’s unclear if it was a political statement or a fashionable one. Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Storm ReidWell, shiver me timbers! Storm has gone from starring in Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time to the much darker drama Euphoria but that hasn’t changed her apparent love for whimsy. The actress was swashbuckling chic in Etro.Frazer Harrison/Getty Images for MTV
Maude ApatowStorm’s Euphoria co-star (and daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow) went for a sweet vintage Gucci look. She may be young but offsetting the neutral tonnes of the dress with bright red nails and lips is the move of a pro. JEAN-BAPTISTE LACROIX/AFP/Getty Images
