Anyone who has ever had to pump knows it’s never fun. Even if it was/is easy for you to fill an eight millilitre container, it can still be a bit of a pain. But there are many others who shed blood, sweat and tears along with those drops of breast milk. And the mere idea of seeing all that hard work go down the proverbial/literal drain can be a tearful nightmare.

Alyssa Milano is one of the many moms who breastfeed and, like many others, she can’t be with her baby all the time. So, like many others, she pumps. And here begins our tale: Milano was in London on Thursday, departing Heathrow Airport for home when she was stopped and officials took her hard won milk. Needless to say, she wasn’t happy and kick-started a series of Twitter posts with this:

Milano followed that by documenting what went down. Heathrow responded to all her tweets and a heated, albeit civilized exchange went down.

But Milano was still dissatisfied.

Alyssa did acknowledge in a later statement to People magazine that she understands that security officials were just doing their job and following orders that ensure everyone’s safety. That being said, she did add, “I do I feel it is a policy that needs thoughtful reconsideration. I’m glad this has started a dialogue. My only hope is to make things easier for moms, breastfeeding and formula feeding moms, everywhere.” Sing it, sister!
