Not only did Prince William and Duchess Kate attend Monday night’s Nets vs. Cavaliers game but they also sat courtside. No royal boxes for these royals, oh, no. The couple are avid sports fans so it only made sense that for their first-ever NBA game they were on the floor with six- and seven-foot-tall dudes bounding past them.
But the game was merely a backdrop for what was going to happen. See, seated directly across from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were America’s royal couple of music, Beyoncé and Jay Z. Will and Kate missed the first half but were seated minutes into the third quarter. After it ended, it was Bey who led the way, crossing the court to greet the Cambridges and chat for a few minutes.
And if those royal shenanigans weren’t enough, William and Kate met with Cavs star “King” LeBron James, who had jerseys for the couple and their son.
Side note: Is anyone else surprised by how tall William and Kate are? Not only is Will a few inches taller than Jay but even next to LeBron, who stands 6’8″, neither look like they belong on a TLC show.
But back to Kate and Bey. What did they talk about? Maybe Beyoncé gave her some tips on where to shop and they shared their love of TopShop. Or perhaps Kate asked B how she so effortlessly handles the wind blowing her hair around all the time. What we do know, though, is next time Bey and Jay head across the pond, we wouldn’t be surprised if there was a play date arranged for Blue Ivy and Prince George. Blue’s parents might want to take note that those who look directly at George fall in love instantly. Consider the Carters warned.
