Amy and Tina’s chemistry remains unmatched
Right from the start, we knew this weekend’s Saturday Night Live was going to be an epic hour and a half. Poehler and Fey feed off each other and their comedic timing was, well, perfect. Frankly, there truly isn’t another duo that can do what they do.
There was an array of other special guests with a double dose of Hillary Clinton (with a “you betcha” from Fey’s Sarah Palin). The hosts also did a “Bad Blood” parody, showing how their squad is dope–a.k.a. better than any group of gals Taylor Swift could throw together.
But while Amy and Tina had the best sketch of the season — a game show called Meet Your Second Wife, which features grown-ass men getting introduced to their future second wives (underage or unborn girls who they will marry years from now) while their first wives are in the audience — the ladies didn’t have anything to do with Weekend Update. Probably so they wouldn’t outshine Colin Jost and Michael Che, who are great. But, still. It would’ve been nice. Our only complaint, though, in an otherwise impeccable 90 minutes.
Taylor Swift makes a cancer-stricken young fan’s Christmas dream come true
Thirteen-year-old Delaney Clements got an early Christmas present — in the form of T-Swift. Clements was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and just last week she entered hospice care. So it only made sense that Taylor would stop in for a visit on Saturday.
And needless to say, Swifty made Clements’ dreams come true.
I was just laying down taking a nap in my room when my mom said I had a visitor. And I thought it might just be another person coming to see how I was. Then suddenly the most amazing miracle happens… The Taylor Swift walked into my bedroom and spent the afternoon with me just talking and hanging!!!! I am beyond Blessed for everyone’s help and support!!! Thank you!!!Happy holidays!!😍💙☃ @taylorswift #Delaneymeettaylor @bryyleiigh A photo posted by ~Delaney Clements~ (@delaneyy.bugg) on
Honestly, is there another famous human on the planet better than Tay? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
There’s already a Saint West living in Canada, Kimye
In case you were unaware, Saint West existed long before Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s son was born a couple weeks ago. He actually lives in Canada and is a former rapper. But he has announced his retirement from the hip-hop scene, renounced his name (and now goes by his given name, Lindon McIntyre, according to TMZ) and had some advice to impart on Baby Kimye No. 2 that he will hopefully listen to.
Alyssa Milano chopped off her hair
The last time Alyssa’s hair was this short was 12 years ago, when she was on Charmed. Maybe she wanted to channel Phoebe Halliwell, or the actress simply wanted a change. Or perhaps she was tired of her kids yanking on her long locks, no matter how much she ponytailed it, and figured, why not?
Whatever the case, her pixie cut with side-swept fringe is gorgeous. It doesn’t matter how many decades have passed. Every guy still loves her and every girl wants to be her so we wouldn’t be surprised if she inspires a slew of new ‘dos.
That new Star Battle-type movie crushed all kinds of box office records
A little movie called Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened and dominated the box office and shattered all kinds of records. It made an estimated $238 million domestically ($57 million during the Thursday night previews alone), and another $279 million around the world. Do the math and that’s a massive $517 million worldwide. IN THREE DAYS.
That beats Jurassic World‘s piddly $208 million set earlier this year. It obviously was the best December opening weekend (previously held by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and toppled about 79 other records. And it’s just going to keep on rolling.
