This is officially the year of Amy Schumer. First she won Golden Globes and critics awards for Inside Amy Schumer, which, if you ask us, deserved that kind of recognition years ago. Then she took the box office by storm with Trainwreck, followed by a sold out performance at the Apollo. And now she’s making history by changing up the Pirelli Calendar.
The calendar, for those who aren’t into high fashion, is an annual affair featuring the world’s top models, as photographed by renowned photographers. This year it switched things up, however, by allowing celeb photographer Annie Leibovitz to ditch the models for portraits of accomplished female writers, artists, athletes and activists.
Now, the Pirelli calendar covers the whole gamut, covering different backgrounds, ethnicities and ages. The likes of Schumer, tennis star Serena Williams, activist Yoko Ono, musician Patti Smith, business mogul Mellody Hobson, Iranian visual artist Shirin Nesha and more were asked to pose for the famed calendar with amazing results.
Of course it was Schumer’s portrait that made headlines though, when she tweeted a picture of the finished product and left all of our jaws on the floor.

It’s not often that we see any kind of celeb who allows herself to be shot or filmed exactly the way she is, sans clothes or touchups. And let’s face it: not only is Schumer beautiful, but she’s an inspiration to women everywhere. After all, this is what a real bod looks like. And it’s way too easy to sometimes forget.
Amy Schumer, ladies and gents. Providing real world inspiration since 2015.
