When it comes to celebrity weddings, or really any weddings, our level of attachment to the event usually centres around how well we know the bride and groom. In the case of Amy Schumer’s recent nuptials to Chef Chris Fischer, we may not know the groom very well, but we kinda feel like we’re already friends with the bride. That’s why seeing her newly released wedding video has us crying an embarrassingly large amount of tears. Do we actually know Amy Schumer?

Thanks to her hilarious sketch show Inside Amy Schumer, her many stand up specials, her semi-autobiographical film Trainwreck, and her best-selling book The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo, we’re invested in Amy Schumer’s happiness. In some ways, we know more about her than people we spend time with IRL.

After dating for three months, Schumer and Fischer surprised everyone by getting married on February 13 in Malibu, California. Set to the tune of “The Rainbow Connection” (oh, and we’re NOT supposed to cry?!), the short video shows Chris and Amy exchanging the vows of two people who are in l-o-v-e. After joking that she was getting married to plug some of her road dates, Schumer says “People are wondering why the rush. Why so fast? And it’s because I truly cannot wait another second to be your wife. I love you.”

This is why they serve cake at weddings! We need some cake right now, stat.

As for Chris, his vows also hit us right in the feels. “I love you, Amy. You bring happiness and joy to every part of my life. You are the best thing to ever happen to me. I love you with every piece of my heart.” And he cooks!

The voice crack during the vows. The helping Amy put her cardigan on over her wedding dress and fixing her hair. The smiling with friends (it’s Larry David, Chelsea Handler and Jennifer Lawrence, but we’re almost too emotional to name drop – almost). The giddy poses with the wedding party. The pictures with Schumer’s father. We just… we can’t…

We don’t really ‘know’ Amy Schumer, but that doesn’t mean we’re not truly happy for someone who has spent their life making other people happy. These are happy tears, trust us.
