Whenever a reality show hits a certain age, you can’t help but wonder whether an All-Star season is coming. And as The Amazing Race Canada turns seven years old this summer, we’ve been wondering (and hoping!) whether some familiar faces would soon grace our TV screens in another race around the world.
As it turns out, we may not be getting an entire all-star season, but we’re definitely seeing some returning faces.
CTV just announced that one of three fan-favourite teams is getting another chance to participate on the show, but the twist is that we get to vote on who. That’s right, all of us armchair travellers who have always dreamed of competing on The Amazing Race Canada can finally get those participation ribbons, thanks to a special hashtag.
Beginning today and running until April 1, we get to vote on whether season one’s Jet and Dave, season three’s Brent and Sean, or season four’s Frankie and Amy will return to the show for a second chance at winning it all. Only one will join the new instalment, which features a group of new racers who have all overcome challenges or underwent reinvention and transformation. The new season, with returning host Jon Montgomery, returns this summer.
Decisions, decisions… with a grand prize on the line and one team making history as the first team to ever run TARC twice, there’s a lot riding on who we vote for. Let’s take a closer look:
Jet and Dave – #VoteJetAndDave
During the first season of the show these besties were definitely entertaining. In fact we were pretty bummed after they were eliminated following a tough Roadblock in St. John’s.
“We should be Canada’s Choice because Canadians deserve to be entertained at least ONE hour a week!” they say.
That’s pretty fair.
Brent and Sean – #VoteBrentAndSean
Fast forward to season three of the series, and these brothers made it all the way to the finale. So what stopped them? A high-rise cycling challenge that was a little tougher than riding a bike. Now they’re looking to soar to new heights with a second chance.
“We should be Canada’s Choice because Canada has only seen a small part of what we can do,” they say. “We want to push ourselves harder than we ever have before and, through our strong will and determination, we feel we are capable of anything.”
Frankie and Amy – #VoteFrankieAndAmy
Last but not least are these fourth-season underdogs with big hearts, mother-daughter duo Frankie and Amy. We remember their try-hard spirit and wicked hair styles, but we especially recall how heartbroken we were for them when they were eliminated in the final four after they followed the wrong information from another team.
“We should be Canada’s Choice because we will make Canada proud and we’ll always have our positive energy alongside us,” they say. “We are true Canadians and we’d be so thankful to be chosen.”
That sounds super swell too.
Guys, this is tough. At this point we have no idea who we’ll vote for but the clock is ticking. Feel like you know who you want to help bolster to a social media win? Hop on Twitter and cast your vote using the special hashtags for each team above, or vote online at CTV.ca.
May the best team win.
