Nothing warms our hearts quite like a dog story with a hopeful ending. Danielle and Rob, the husband and wife duo who founded Dog Tales Rescue and Horse Sanctuary in King City, Ontario, feel the same way and they’ve made it their life’s mission to create as many happy puppy stories as possible.

Danielle and Rob regularly rescue dogs from not only their community in the Greater Toronto Area, but from all over the world. For the season two premiere of their show Dog Tales Rescue (Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on GustoTV), Danielle and Rob travelled to Tel-Aviv, Israel to collect as many dogs from overcrowding situations as possible in hopes they’ll have a shot at finding a forever home back here in Canada.

The couple met up with Galila, a shelter owner in Tel-Aviv who, despite her best intentions, didn’t have the resources to take care of all the dogs she rescued.

“I decided to make a home for the dogs because there’s no room left in the shelters,” she said. “So a lot of dogs came to my home.”

The conditions the dogs were living in were far too crowded and there wasn’t enough food to go around. Galila was doing her best under the circumstances, but the Dog Tales team came through just in the nick of time.

Rob, Danielle and the rest of the team were able to rescue dozens of those pups who, with a little rehabilitation and a lot of love, will have a second shot at adoption and a happy, healthy life in Canada. Now they just have to get them here.

Meanwhile, back at the shelter, the DTR staff take on some new piggy additions and a family eager to adopt finds out if their new dog will be compatible with their current furry friend.
