So yeah, Warner Bros. released the trailer for The Legend of Tarzan this week. Looks pretty goo… uh, um. So uh, that’s Alex Skarsgård in those, um, pants. Pants. No shirt. Just abs. Abs and pants. Ummm.
Oh, so where were we? Yeah. So. Yeah, it was only a matter of time before we saw a trailer for the reportedly troubled project. Sure, there may be issues with the director and whatever, it’s way over budget, but, but.. ok, honestly, who cares? ‘Cause, uh,
But back to the trailer. We get our first look at evil Captain Rom (Christoph Waltz) and what appears to be an unwilling Jane in the jungle. But, please. This is a movie about Tarzan, so let’s just watch Alex leap from tree to tree.
Sadly the whole movie isn’t just Skarsgård clad only in a loin cloth, or ripped pants. Sorry. The movie is set a decade after he left the jungle, living an aristocratic 19th-century life as Lord Greystoke with his wife, Jane. Naturally, Alex still manages to turn heads while in a suit — even with his pinky up as he sips tea — but it doesn’t last long. Tarzan is lured back to the Congo for a supposed diplomatic mission, and that’s when things go awry. Or, go back to being really, really good. Y’know, tomato,
Will this be the movie that makes Skarsgård a household name? Maybe. The images and trailer are certainly a good start. The Legend of Tarzan, which also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou, is scheduled for release on July 1, 2016. Happy Canada Day to us!
