As of late, Andrew Garfield has been showing his serious side on-screen, what with Silence and his Oscar-nominated performance in Hacksaw Ridge, but off-screen he’s a super-fun guy. And Garfield proved just how game for a good time he is when he surprised a London audience with his stellar lip-syncing performance to Whitney Houston‘s cover of “I’m Every Woman,” just because.
Buckle up because you’re in for a treat.
Garfield strutting and dancing all over that stage, channeling Whitney and owning it, might be the best thing you’ll see all week. And there are no words to describe that out-of-nowhere backflip. Imagine what that was like live? Those in the audience during the London stop of the Werq the World Tour got more of an eyeful than the drag queen revue usually dishes out. And that’s saying something.
The show’s host for the evening, RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, took to Instagram to show her appreciation for Garfield, who attended the show with his fellow cast members from the London revival of Angels in America.
What a show, what a night! Thank you as always🇬🇧 YOU ARE MY HEART AND SOUL. Andrew Garfield, you are my new friend, I am SO proud of you for not just lip syncing Whitney tonight in a wig no less, but for opening your mind and heart to all it has to offer. @lavernecox you keep doing what you’re doing, you are a trailblazer, a beauty and a 💎 I LOVE YOU #werqtheworld #tour #soldout
But back to Andrew’s impressive performance. Do you think this was his response to his Spider-Man successor, Tom Holland, who proved he’s a lip sync champ in his own right?
Or maybe he just wanted to show ex-girlfriend Emma Stone that he’s still got it, and is almost as good as her.
Either way, can Andrew lip sync everything from now on? Also, if he and Emma want to get back together, that’s OK too.
