As countries around the world continue to physical distance and people everywhere worry about their economic status, job security and overall mental health, many celebrities continue to offer financial relief and much-needed hope thanks to their charitable efforts. Over the past couple of weeks a bunch of celebrities have stepped up and donated funds to the global fight against coronavirus, and now Angelina Jolie and Kylie Jenner are joining the ranks. On March 25, Kylie Jenner donated a million dollars to first responders on the frontlines helping to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, a hefty sum that will help to purchase sorely needed masks, face shields and other protective gear that’s been running low across North America as hospitals run out. Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, a doctor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, revealed the donation on social media, calling it an answered prayer.

I am speechless, my eyes are filled with tears of joy and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. I made a wish to the Universe to gather protective masks for our brave healthcare workers and today my dream came true. One of my patients, a beautiful Living Angel just donated $1,000,000 to help us buy hundreds of thousands of masks, face shields, and other protective gear which we will have delivered directly to our first responders, as too many masks at hospitals are disappearing before making their way onto the faces of our front line heroes. I have never felt more blessed to be a doctor, as helping our brave ER and ICU workers feels just as gratifying as helping my own patients. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU @kyliejenner ❤️. You are my hero. This generous donation will help save many precious lives. Our world is a better place with you in it. I love you so much. Thank you X a million....

Oscar-winning actress and all-around humanitarian Angelina Jolie also donated $1 million on the same day. Her cash is going towards helping feed kids who typically rely on school lunches for nourishment. Like Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell before her, Jolie put her money towards No Kid Hungry, revealed the organization in a press release.[video_embed id='1928353']RELATED: Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are waiving rent during coronavirus[/video_embed]“As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus. Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support. No Kid Hungry is making resolute efforts to reach as many of those children as possible,” Jolie said in a statement. It’s worth noting the mother of six has also shared her charity across the globe in recent weeks: according to People she’s also donated to the UN Refugee Agency and sent support to schools she funds in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kenya and Namibia. The publication reports that she’s also working with UNESCO on establishing a Global Education Coalition to help children continue to learn while they’re out of school. Because, as anyone following the news knows, there’s no telling when things might get back to normal again.
Jenner and Jolie aren’t the only famous faces coming through in the world’s time of need. There has been an encouraging number of actors who have joined a new kind of million-dollar-club by putting serious cash injections into the COVID-19 fight. Arnold Schwarzenegger donated $1 million to first responders through the Frontline Responders Fund, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds donated the same amount to food banks, tennis superstar Roger Federer and his wife gave a million to vulnerable families in Switzerland, musician James Taylor gave his million to a hospital in Boston, and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos also donated a cool mill to help fund ongoing relief efforts in the States.Several other celebs, from Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake to Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Garner are all putting money towards the cause as everyone does their part to reassure others that we will get through this together.[video_embed id='1927603']RELATED: Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogen join PM Trudeau’s efforts to flatten the curve[/video_embed]
