It was in January when we learned that Angelina Jolie was going to be the new face of Mon Guerlain’s perfume campaign. You know, the gig from which she donated all her earnings to charity? Because she’s awesome like that. Anyway, the ad is out and while we get that she prefers to spend her time with her family, doing humanitarian work and being behind the camera as a director, oh, my, how we missed her gorgeous face on the screen.
The ad, titled “Notes of a Woman,” is for Guerlain’s new fragrance, inspired by none other than Jolie. In the clip, Ange is going through a series of emotions while a hot perfumer comes up with the perfect combination of scents. In what appears to be a chateau on the French countryside, Angie rehearses lines, prepares for an event, looks sad, then looks happy. Clearly she was in love with whatever the guy concocted. We know we would be.
According to Guerlain, the perfume is “characterized by the freshness of Lavender Carla, an exceptional variety cultivated in Provence, which contrasts with the voluptuousness of the Sambac jasmine from India and the Australian Album Sandalwood, associated with the sensual Vanilla Tahitensis of Papua New Guinea.” It sounds like something you would smell while walking in a meadow, but we tried it ourselves and it’s actually not overwhelmingly floral. Rather, it’s clean, subtle, and sweet without being overly cloying.
But back to Jolie. She really is a stunning woman. And while the idea of a guy coming up with the perfect perfume makes her twirl with happiness is a wee bit corny, we will take a twirly, happy Angie any day.
