There are still a couple of weeks left to go in the year, which means we’re not done talking about one of 2018’s biggest topics: #MeToo and Time’s Up. We’ll never be done, and that’s probably a good thing, but the conversation is front of mind again today now that another woman has come forward and detailed an underaged relationship with director Woody Allen.

Allen has long been a headlines-generator in regards to the way Hollywood treats women (you can read the full breakdown of Allen’s history here), but as a result of more recent sexual assault allegations made against him by his daughter, Dylan Farrow, his career has been in a bit of a lockdown. Allen has denied those charges, but many of the man’s former collaborators, like Colin Firth and Rebecca Hall, have disassociated from him, while others like Javier Bardem and Jude Law have defended him. Meanwhile, Allen’s latest film, A Rainy Day in New York, wrapped shooting in fall 2017 but still hasn’t been released by its producers, Amazon Studios.

Now, the plot thickens.

Model and actor Christina Engelhardt, who met Allen in 1976, has revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she and Allen began a secret sexual relationship when she was a few months shy of her 17th birthday and he was in his 40s. For those keeping track, that puts Engelhardt a few months shy of New York state’s legal age of consent, which is 17.

According to the interview, Englehardt claims she met Allen in October of that year, and their relationship lasted for eight years. She was the one who initially instigated things after their meeting at a New York City restaurant, when she gave him a napkin with her contact info.

Over the course of the relationship Allen reportedly introduced Englehardt to other young women with whom they engaged in threesomes. Roughly four years into things Allen brought Mia Farrow around and introduced her to Englehardt as his girlfriend, which Englehardt says broke her heart.

“I felt sick. I didn’t want to be there at all, and yet I couldn’t find the courage to get up and leave,” she wrote in an unpublished manuscript shared with the publication. “To leave would mean an end to all of this. Looking back now, that’s exactly what I needed, but back then, the idea of not having Woody in my life at all terrified me. So I sat there, patiently, calmly trying to assess the situation, trying to understand why he wanted the two of us to meet.”

Looking back, Englehardt said she has “no regrets” about the affair but that she and Allen are no longer in contact. He reportedly reached out in 2001 and said he’d like his former lover to meet his wife, Soon-Yi-Previn, but Englehardt never responded.

Naturally, since the story went public, people on social media have been voicing their own opinions on the accusations, while Allen has stayed silent.

Certain celebs are getting in on it too…

Whatever comes next in this saga, we don’t think we’ll be surprised.
