In case you missed the memo, this year's Toronto International Film Festival is going to be more accessible than ever. Part of the plan to bring TIFF2020 to a large and physically distanced audience is the newly-announced TIFF Tribute Awards TV broadcast, which will be aired in partnership with Bell Media, on CTV and available on all CTV platforms. Better yet, the festival has just announced more honourees for the occasion.Sir Anthony Hopkins will join previously-announced Kate Winslet in receiving a TIFF Tribute Actor Award at the ceremony. The TIFF Ebert Director Award will go to Chloé Zhao, the critically acclaimed director-writer-producer behind Songs My Brothers Taught Me and the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Eternals. Mira Nair will receive the Jeff Skoll Award in Impact Media for her lifetime of work directing, writing and producing the likes of Vanity FairAmelia and Queen of Katwe. More honourees will be announced in the next month leading up to the start of the festival on September 10th.The 2020 TIFF Tribute Awards will be broadcast over one hour on Tuesday, September 15 at 8pm ET/PT on CTV and all other CTV platforms and broadcast internationally on Variety.  The broadcast of this TIFF ceremony is kind of a big deal. While the festival is generally accessible to the public, there are certain ceremonies and events that are more exclusive. The TIFF Tribute Gala only had its inaugural ceremony last year, but the event honouring the likes of Meryl Streep, Taika Waititi, Mati Diop, Joaquin Phoenix and more was not televised or available beyond those who physically attended.[video_embed id='1892356']RELATED: Cameron Bailey reveals how he picks films for the Toronto International Film Festival [/video_embed]All four honourees have films showing at TIFF over the 10-day festival. Winslet joins Saoirse Ronan for the Gala Presentation film Ammonite—a 19th-century love story between a young paleontologist and a grieving widow. Hopkins stars alongside Olivia Colman in the drama The Father which documents a man's mental decline while battling dementia.Zhao's latest film, Nomadland, stars Frances McDormand as a modern day nomad who traverses the American West with nothing but her own intuition and the possessions she can fit in her van. Nair's six-part adaptation of the novel A Suitable Boy is already in high demand and will have its premiere at TIFF after initially airing on BBC this summer. The 45th Toronto International Film Festival will take place from September 10 to 19 and you can watch the 2020 TIFF Tribute Awards TV broadcast Tuesday, September 15 at 8pm ET/PT on CTV and all other CTV platforms.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: The stars of TIFF '19 share the movies that changed their lives[/video_embed]
