For months, it’s been reported that Duchesses Kate and Meghan don’t get along, have nothing in common, and are barely putting up with each other, and the only reason they are is because they’re married to brothers Prince William and Prince Harry. But it turns out the problems might not be between the women. In fact, it’s the men.

“It’s actually that William and Harry have had a rift,” royal filmmaker Nick Bullen told Fox News. “All brothers fall out. All families fall out. Their fallout at the moment is becoming public.”

This is what many have believed all along, and now we’re getting some degree of confirmation. According to Bullen, it’s “a much sexier story to have two duchesses at war” than two stuffy British bros. He explained: “Let’s have these two super glamorous women — one British, one American. One an actress, one sort of an English rose. Let’s put them against each other.”

Yep, for some reason, people would rather hear about two women being pitted against one another than a sibling rivalry because apparently the former is more fun? Ugh.

Bullen added another reason why he thinks Kate vs. Meghan is much more entertaining than William vs. Harry and, sadly, it makes sense.

“I think people don’t want to think about that with these two boys. These are two boys who lost their mother at a really early age, and the fairy tale is that they are closer than ever, and need each other, and I think that’s probably true, but equally they are two grown men in their 30s, starting their own families, different wives, they are moving to different parts of the country, different duties.”

Bullen did say that Prince Charles and The Queen “are working incredibly hard to try and make sure everybody reunites.” If anything can make it happen, it’s their dad and grandmum.

All the pieces are suddenly falling into place. Whatever the rift is about, whether it’s one big thing or a bunch of little things that just became too much–and who knows if those juicy details will ever come out–William and Harry will eventually find their way back to one another.

Because at the heart of all this messiness, Bullen is right. These are two brothers we’re talking about, two men who have endured a lot from early on and know that when it comes down to it, they can always count on the other. We just hope reconciliation is sooner rather than later, because it’s gotten way past the point of awkward. But, hey, now we can be happy in our belief that, behind the scenes, Kate and Meghan are great friends. That’s something!
