The days of tangled headphone wires and broken cords may be a thing of the past. That is, if this latest Apple rumour has any grain of truth to it.

According to reports from MacOtakara, Apple is looking to trim down its sleek phone even further in the never-ending quest for stylish but portable phones. And so the next casualty could very well be the headphone jack, which as we all know takes up so much space on the unit.

By cutting the cord, Apple will be able to secure itself more millimetres of space, while also unrolling a brand new line of adaptors and bluetooths for those of us who much prefer to have headphones on to listen to music or watch movies on the go.

Still, we are always impressed by how much smaller these phones seem to get, and a sleeker design is always a welcome one in our books. The big question is, are we actually willing to give up our headphone jacks, or is that just an inevitable evolution waiting to happen?

The good news is, the change is still just a rumour. Apple has not confirmed or denied a thing, and according to Engadget, MacOtakara doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to reporting such changes. And even if it is true, we’ll probably have months to prepare ourselves — we all know it takes at least that long to unroll anything new in the marketplace anyhow.

For now, we’ll just keep untangling those headphone cords as per usual.
