Oliver Queen may be known for his archery prowess as Starling City’s vigilante hero The Arrow, but it’s the bolts fired by Cupid’s bow that are hitting new levels of squee! on the series this season. Oliver and his hacking prodigy sidekick Felicity Smoak even went on a full blown, officially confirmed date in the season opener, only to have their burgeoning romance cut short. Superhero duties, and all that.

After months of waiting, it’s official: this on-again, off-again power couple is the new Ross and Rachel. Somehow, those two dragged their will-they-or-won’t-theys over an agonizing 10 seasons of Friends. And now it looks like “Olicity” is about to do the same on Arrow. Observe:

Felicity is a nerdy genius, just like Ross

She’s an M.I.T. grad who cracks code like Kit-Kats. He’s a paleontologist who corrects your grammar. They’re both socially awkward, and yet you just want to hug the brains right out of them.

They are all #JealousMuch

Felicity is not only jealous of Oliver’s romance with the villainous Isabel — she’s even jealous when Oliver suffers from hallucinations of another woman. And don’t get us started on Ross and Rachel.

Remember Paolo? And Russ? And Paul? And Tag? And (shudder) Joey?

They learn about their love for each other by dating duds

Attention Barry Allen: maybe your attempts to court Felicity went nowhere because you kept reminding her about her obvious chemistry with Oliver. Though Felicity said “no, no, no, no” the Flash-to-be realized Olicity were a clear “yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.”

Likewise, Ross tried to move on with the lovely Julie, but unfortunately her chances with him were doomed. And she didn’t even get a spin-off out of it!

Their thoughtful presents say what their stunted social skills can’t

You know what a broody superhero needs? A fern to add some life to his sleep-deprived existence. This gift from Felicity has become the unofficial vegetation of #TeamOlicity.

Similarly, Ross caught Rachel’s attention by buying her an antique pin that was just like her grandma’s, easily besting the Travel Scrabble Chandler gave her.

They are both sentimental

On Oliver and Felicity’s first date, Oliver shows he has a mind for detail, reminiscing about how Felicity was chewing on a red pen the first time they met.

Rachel is similarly sentimental — in one episode, she reveals she’s saved some souvenirs of her and Ross’s precious moments together.

Their first kisses go nowhere

Oliver’s first kiss with Felicity is so hot, Health Canada advises you to watch it with a handheld fan and fist full of smelling salts. Unfortunately, it takes place at an inopportune time: halfway through Oliver telling Felicity he can’t be with her.

Ross’s first kiss with Rachel is similarly passionate, but Ross is dating Julie. To clear his thoughts, he makes a list of pros and cons, describing Rachel as “spoiled, ditzy, too into her looks and just a waitress.” OF COURSE she finds it, so that’s the end of that for another six episodes.

And yet, their connection is obvious

Okay, so maybe she was high on Oxycodone at the time (long story). But when Oliver put his hand on her cheek and said, “You will always be my girl Felicity,” were there enough “aw”s in the world?

It’s the kind of stud-like reassurance Rachel gave Ross during their museum date, when she told him, “you were worth the wait.” Can you believe it would take them yet another eight years before they finally had a happily ever after? Arrow, if you truly believe in justice, don’t jerk us around like that!

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 PM on CTV.
