It’s been more than 10 years since Arkells dropped their first album, Jackson Square. Since then, the band from Hamilton, Ontario have topped the charts, were nominated for a JUNO Award, and attended the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Their fifth studio album Rally Cry was released last October and they’re about to kick off a Canadian tour.
Frontman Max Kerman has kept busy with other projects, too. His most recent gig involved serving as a celebrity mentor in the upcoming season of The Launch (January 30th, 2019 on CTV).
The Launch is an original music format documenting an authentic and behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to break a new artist and bring a song to life. In each episode, five unsigned artists try out for the chance to learn, record and perform their version of an original song. They are mentored by a panel of music industry legends and a rotating celebrity mentor and producer.
On a recent visit to the Your Morning studio, Max told us what it was like to be a mentor on the highly-anticipated show. You can watch the entire interview in the video clip above.
In addition to The Launch, Max can also be found on The Mike on Much Podcast CRAVE TV series.
