We all owe a debt of gratitude to Jimmy Kimmel for having Arnold Schwarzennegger on the lockdown version of his show late last week. Finally, after about a month of mooning over the actor and former California Governor’s adorable (if unusual) pets on his Twitter and Instagram feeds, we got to see Lulu, his donkey, and Whiskey, his miniature horse on Kimmel’s show and learn more details about their lives inside the Schwarzennegger manor.Kimmel, in a full and expertly applied face of makeup (which is more than we can say for ourselves right now), chatted with Schwarzennegger about his sweet farm friends before moving on to more serious — you guessed it — COVID-related topics.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Arnold Schwarzenegger seriously doesn’t care about that dropkick[/video_embed]“They roam around the house, they go upstairs, they go downstairs, they’re all over the place,” the actor told Kimmel, adding, “They watch me when I work out.” (Who wouldn’t?) “They’re not trained,” admitted Schwarzennegger, “but they very rarely go and take a dump in the house. It happened one time when I was in the kitchen cooking, but that’s okay. It just smelled a little bit from wienerschnitzel and poo at the same time.” And while we can admit that using a kitchen as a bathroom is the definitive appetite suppressant, who wouldn’t forgive these two fuzzy faces for it? The conversation takes on a more serious tone when Arnold explains to Kimmel that the state of California wasn’t able to continue to pay to store the cache of ventilators and masks he had stockpiled (in case of wildfires) back when he was governor. Some of the much-needed supplies were recovered to be used in the fight to contain COVID but a portion was lost due to budget cuts, a familiar refrain in the discussion around the pandemic as communities start to question the wisdom of previous cuts in funding for everything from nursing home regulatory bodies to disease control centres.Lulu, however, does her part to lighten the mood by snuggling up to and sneezing on the man who played the Terminator smack in the middle of the discussion.
