Selena Gomez is finally ready to release a new album. While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (weekdays at 11:35pmET on CTV2) on Tuesday night, Gomez confirmed that not only is she working on a new album, but it’s complete. It’s time for Selenators to throw a dance party and rejoice!

Confirming to Fallon that the new album is largely done, aside from a few tweaks she needs to make in the studio, the singer said that the delay was because of major personal moments that not only interrupted her time in the studio, but also made for difficult subject matter. “I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally,” Gomez told Fallon. “How was I gonna capture that? How was I gonna actually feel good about what I was saying?”

Those personal moments she alluded to likely included the very public highs and lows that Gomez endured both in the spotlight and behind closed doors. Since releasing 2015’s Revival, Gomez was forced to cancel the album’s tour and check into a mental health facility. After receiving treatment, the singer had a very public relationship and breakup with Canadian singer The Weeknd. Following the couple’s split, Gomez rekindled her relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, but the pair also broke up, with Bieber quickly reconnecting and marrying his girlfriend Hailey Baldwin.

Gomez also had a health scare as a result of her lupus and required a kidney transplant, which she received from friend and actor Francia Raisa. Gomez broke an artery during the transplant and required emergency surgery to build a new artery by taking a vein from her leg. Recently, she checked back into a mental health facility, continuing to inspire her millions of fans around the world to seek treatment whenever necessary and help reduce the stigma around mental health. In other words, it’s been a busy four years.

Gomez says that the new album will be a mixture of pop songs that her fans can dance to, as well as more soulful ballads, with a focus on electric and acoustic guitars. “There’s always going to be a sense of strong pop” says Gomez of the new music, adding “it all kind of hits different places that I feel like is my lane for music. It’s just live in that world and mellow.” Clearing our playlist to make room for Gomez’s new music as we type.

The new album marks Gomez’s first since Revival, which was packed with big hits like “Good For You,” “Same Old Love” and “Hands To Myself.” The singer has dropped a handful of songs in the four years since her last album, including the solo tracks “Bad Liar,” “Fetish,” and “Back To You,” as well as collaborations, including the 2017 songs “It’s Ain’t Me” with Kygo and “Wolves” with Marshmello, and more recently “Taki Taki” with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Cardi B, “I Can’t Get Enough” with J Balvin and “Tainy,” and “Anxiety,” which saw Gomez collaborate with her longtime songwriter, Julia Michaels.

Gomez has also remained busy on the big and small screen, producing the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and starring in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, A Rainy Day In New York and the Cannes Film Festival opener, The Dead Don’t Die.
