Teen Kashlee Taylor-Proulx isn’t dreaming about taking Justin Bieber, one of the Directioners or other celebrity heartthrobs to her high school prom next year. Instead. she really, really wants to take Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the dance.

For the past few days, the 16-year-old from Kamloops, B.C. has been petitioning the PM on social media.

Everyone please share this so I can get the Canadian Prime Minister to be my prom date. #trudeauforprom2016

It all started when her boyfriend broke up with her two weeks ago. According to Global News, Kashlee was heartbroken because she had planned out the whole prom night with her ex of one year and now she’d be stuck going alone.

And so, the high schooler thought it’d be funny to ask Trudeau, who was recently dubbed an “unconventional hottie” by Vogue, to be her prom date with a Facebook post. The joke has apparently caught the eyes of many since it has almost 12,000 Facebook likes and over 3,000 shares at the time of writing.

Now, Kashlee knows the PM is a busy man, but she hopes he shows up–if not for her, then for her classmates.

“A lot of teenagers enjoy politics and I feel that if he did come, even if just to give a speech at the graduation ceremony, not only would he be gaining future voters but enlightening my peers about what being a Prime Minister is all about,” she said to Global News.
