After all these years, The Bachelor isn’t just your favourite guilty-pleasure watch, it’s everyone’s. And when we say everyone, we mean it, because even high-brow, A-list, Oscar-winning, Hollywood royalty are OB-SESSED with it. Case in point: Charlize Theron. Sure, she might have been on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday night to talk about her latest Oscar nom for portraying Megyn Kelly in Bombshell, but as we would’ve done, she spent the first 10 minutes of her interview talking about The Bachelor. Issa mood, and we feeling it.
“It’s really good!” she gushed, referring to this season with Peter Weber as The Bachelor. “Don’t you think it’s good?”
“Well you know,” Jimmy, who has spent countless monologues over the years focused solely on The Bachelor, kinda shrugged then added, “none of them are really good . . . It’s a huge waste of time.”
Jimmy, first of all, how dare you. Secondly, how very dare you.
Naturally, chatting about The Bachelor romances led to Charlize revealing the worst date she’s ever been on, and we need to prepare you for this because it is quite the honker *ahem*. She recounted a date from her early twenties that went very well, so as he dropped her off at her place in his car, they kissed, but then her date asked for something rather unorthodox.
“We started kissing and it was really good, and then he pulled away and whispered, ‘Make out with my nose.’”
Okay, we’re gonna need to speak to a manager here.
Jimmy had a lot of questions too, but Charlize at this point was unable to even speak as she was racked with laughter, wiping away tears. “He was really into it,” she barely eeked out. “So I gave him like a little peck on the nose and he was like, ‘Nooo, make out with iiitttt.’”
“Wow,” Jimmy deadpanned, “The Bachelorette gets a rose, you get a nose.” Mic-drop.

They finally got to talking about Charlize’s turn as Megyn Kelly in the new movie Bombshell, which has earned her another Oscar nom (she famously won Best Actress 16 years ago for her disturbing role as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster), and about how the sexual harassment culture at Fox News helped elevate the conversation about #MeToo.
But there’s no way the lingering thought in most everyone’s mind from her appearance is how this guy blew his chance with Charlize Theron thanks to an odd request. Can’t knock him for shooting his shot, we guess.
