In news surprising to no one, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are holding off on that divorce they announced a little over a year ago. The couple, who announced their split a day after their 10-year anniversary in June 2015, have done a little takesies-backsies on the end of their marriage and are going to give it another shot.

“Jen mentioned that the divorce was going through very soon, and then a few weeks ago, things changed,” a source close to Garner told Us Weekly. “It does not seem to be moving in that direction.”

Are we supposed to be gasping with shock? Probably not. The two have managed to remain in the same house over the past year — though in separate bedrooms, uh-huh — and spent a lot of time together with their children, for the sake of their children. But perhaps it was a little too close for comfort for Garner.

“Jen seems to still be in love with Ben but doesn’t allow her mind to go there,” said the source. “She just focuses on the kids.”

But, another source added that the feelings are mutual. “If it was up to Ben, they would be together. He feels like he can’t live without Jen.”

While an Affleck source insists lawyers are still working on their divorce, they could just be putting that out there to save face in case things don’t turn out happily ever. But honestly, we can see these two making it work, and not just for Violet, Seraphina and Sam but for themselves as well. Just as long as one of them — he knows who he is — understands that changes clearly need to be made, and the other one — she knows who she is — needs to not take his crap ever again.

Can that happen? We like to hope so, not just for Jen or the kids but Ben too. A lot can change in a year, and maybe all those vices and addictions and nannies and looking the other way can be a thing of the past. Here’s hoping.
