Jennifer Garner continues to be the best ex-partner in Hollywood. Over a year after completing a stint in rehab for alcohol addiction, Ben Affleck has reportedly relapsed, but thanks to an intervention staged this week by his ex, Jennifer Garner, Affleck is now back in treatment.
Affleck checked into rehab back in March 2017, completing in-patient treatment in a facility and releasing a statement about his sobriety. “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step,” Affleck wrote on Facebook last year. “I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
The actor continued to receive out-patient treatment over the past year, but after breaking up with girlfriend Lindsay Shookus earlier this month, it seems that Affleck is no longer sober. The Batman star was spotted at restaurants over the weekend with 22-year-old Playboy model Shauna Sexton, with Shookus deleting her Instagram page, which many took as a signal the pair’s relationship was over.
According to a source, Garner staged an intervention with her ex on Wednesday night, arriving at his house in Los Angeles with her bodyguard. The source says that Affleck, who had been drinking for two days, went willingly with Garner.
Affleck and Garner announced their separation back in 2015 after ten years of marriage. The couple share three children and have remained close since separating, often photographed together at school events and extra-curricular activities with their kids.
Garner has remained close to Affleck’s family as well, as seen here just last year with her ex-mother-in-law Christine Anne Affleck.
Affleck’s latest trip to rehab is yet another scary reminder of the power of addiction. We’re happy to see the actor seeking help and applaud Garner for continuing to be a rockstar mom and friend.
