There are a handful of people around the world who are rich enough to pay the biggest names in music to appear at their birthday party/wedding/bat mitzvah/holiday party. Then, there are the people who were lucky enough to be born in the same family as superstars. For Jay Z and Beyoncé’s niece Teanna Carter, she’s the latter.

The 21-year-old, who hit the jackpot of Ancestry.com with Jay Z as her uncle, celebrated her 21st birthday in New York City with a Great Gatsby-themed party. Wearing a white tuxedo jacket and black pants, Jay was joined by wife Beyoncé, who wore a beaded red dress from the Walter Collection, Jimmy Choo Viola shoes, and the same emerald cuff by Lorraine Schwartz that Bey wore the night she revealed her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy at the 2011 MTV VMAs. We could read into this and think that Beyoncé was secretly telling the world that she’s pregnant once again, but mostly we think she just really likes the bracelet.

According to E! News, Jay and Bey spent the night celebrating with the Carter side of the family. “Beyoncé and Jay-Z had a great night out at his niece Teanna’s 21st birthday party in New York on Saturday night,” a source told the entertainment news outlet. “They arrived on a party bus with lots of Jay-Z’s family. All of his nieces and nephews and cousins were there ready to party and celebrate. Beyoncé looked very comfortable and close with Jay’s family. She knew everyone and they were all hugging and talking. Jay had a cane to go with his costume, but he was still helping Beyoncé get out and get inside.”

The source added that the couple spent the night dancing, with the evening’s soundtrack featuring their own music, including The Lion King: The Gift tracks “Before I Let Go,” “My Power,” and “Already.” The new album also features the impactful “Brown Skin Girl,” which has inspired a viral movement of women celebrating their dark skin.

“They had a seated dinner and then it turned into a huge dance party,” said the source. “The entire family was on the dance floor and never sat down. Everyone danced together in a circle. Beyoncé and Jay were right there in the middle of it all dancing with family and friends cheering them on. They had a great night celebrating Teanna and showering her with love.”

For any other artist, playing your own music at a party may come off as a bit self-indulgent, but how can you have a playlist in 2019 and NOT include a Jay Z or Beyoncé track? Did you even have a party if “Single Ladies” wasn’t played?

This isn’t the first time the power couple have gone all out for their niece’s birthday. For Teanna’s sweet 16, Uncle Jay and Auntie Bey rented out a go-kart track for the family. And while we can’t be sure, we assume the billionaire aunt and uncle also give out pretty great gifts too.
